The past year has been a tough one for our volunteer Brother John Koczka of the Materi Girls’ Centre in Kenya. A cruel drought has hit Kenya hard, causing the price for nearly everything – food, water, medicine – to skyrocket. But Brother John has a motto “Tough times go away. Tough People don’t.” He has pulled through the year with the support of Children, Incorporated and the children’s sponsors, providing all of over 600 of Materi’s children with quality education, health care, food, and water. The girls are taught in school everyday and are properly fed a balanced diet despite high food prices. They are able to get clean water from their well and have avoided disease. Brother John is optimistic for the next year, believing that rain will come to Kenya soon. But, Materi is still in need of help in order to continue to provide a healthy lifestyle for the girls enrolled in the Children, Incorporated program. We have more than 100 children in Kenya who are waiting for a sponsor. Please consider sponsorship of just one, and change a life forever.
