About Us
Message from the CEO - Marian G. Cummins
Welcome to our website! This site will provide you with some interesting
background and insights into our organization. I hope you will take a moment to explore and learn
more about the work we do; assisting more than 20,000 impoverished children here in the United
States and abroad.
We are celebrating our 46th Anniversary this year and I am proud to
say that I have been a part of this organization for 39 of those wonderful years. We have steadily
expanded our efforts over the years--we currently have 300 projects in 24 countries worldwide!
I have had the privilege and pleasure of working closely with Jeanne Clarke Wood, our founder,
who instilled hope and dedication in me to build a better future for as many impoverished children
as possible. She also helped me to remember that we depend fully on the kindness and generosity
of our donors to make this possible for the children on our program. Mrs. Wood and I traveled
the world together; we visited projects and saw first hand the desperate need that exists. From this experience,
I learned lessons that could not be taken from a textbook and saw sights one could never imagine.
There are so many children here in the U.S. and abroad who need our help!
Children,
Incorporated strives to have a close relationship with our supporters. We welcome visits to our Richmond,
Virginia office, as well as phone calls and emails. The personal connection made between Children,
Incorporated, the sponsor and the child is so important to what we do. We affectionately refer
to our supporters as our "CI Family" and we invite you to join our "family" and assist us with the
new challenges ahead.
It has been wonderful to see the number of children on our rolls
reach a new level during my thirty-nine years, but there are still so many children in the world who need our help. With your support,
we hope to take up the challenge of exploring other communities where our assistance is needed,
creating new opportunities to change the life of a child.
Sincerely,

Marian
